Whoopi Goldberg Gets Controversial by Defending Polanski

Whoopi Goldberg has caused some controversy after she defended Roman Polanski after he was arrested on Saturday. The filmmaker was arrested in Switzerland after he reportedly had sexual relations with a 13-year-old girl and fled the country in 1978.
Whoopi said on The View, "It was something else but I don’t believe it was rape-rape.”
She later said, "We’re a different kind of society, we see things differently. Would I want my 14 year old having sex? Not necessarily, no."

Yesterday’s episode of The View was completely devoted to "Hot Topics" which kicked off with a discussion about the Senate seat scandal surrounding Illinois Governor Rod Blagojevich (president-elect Barack Obama is appalled).
They also talked about the new 90 minute variety show hosted by Jay Leno which will air right before Conan O’Brien, who will be taking over Jay’s old late-night talk show.
The women also explored what’s been happening on primetime television with so many shows being cancelled, which appears to be related to the current recession.

Whoopi Goldberg to Produce Stage Version of "Sister Act" in London

Whoopi Goldberg is getting back in the "habit" (yes, that painful pun was intended). Reports are saying that the moderator from The View will be producing a stage version of her highly successful 1992 film Sister Act. "I really liked the direction they were going in," Goldberg said. "It (the film) is almost 20 years old. Rather than have someone repeat what was, you have to take it and redo it. That’s what they’ve done and they’ve done it really well."
