Tyra at White House Correspondents Dinner
May 11, 2009 by Jeanne
Over the weekend, Tyra Banks attended the White House Correspondents dinner and she looked amazing! At the annual event, the White House Correspondents’ Association presented awards to journalists but it was the humor of Wanda Sykes and the speech from President Barack Obama that has everyone talking.
Sykes is known for her off-color jokes (no pun intended) but it’s quite another thing when she is poking fun at the president and First Lady. I was seriously almost in tears laughing. Watch this video:
There was a huge number of celebrities on hand (many of them gasping and/or laughing through Wanda Sykes’ …read more
Oprah Attends Barack Obama Inauguration
January 21, 2009 by Jeanne
Oprah Winfrey, who stands in the image below at the side of Reverend Jesse Jackson, attended the inauguration of President Barack Obama in Washington, D.C. yesterday.
Like so many, Oprah braved the cold to be a part of the historic event. I wish I could have been there! It’s particularly touching to see Jesse Jackson since he was standing next to Martin Luther King Jr on that horrible day when he was assassinated, was a huge part of the civil rights movement and also ran for president in 1984 and 1988 (I can remember watching his debate!).

How the White House Will Change the Lives of the Obama Family
The Today show discussed how the lives of the family of President Barack Obama (wow!) will change after they move into the White House. I imagine it’s going to take a huge adjustment. Not only is the home bigger but it’s the most famous house in the United States and their lives will be constantly under public scrutiny. Hopefully, some of the amenities will make the transition go a little easier. In the private residence, they will have:
a swimming pool
tennis court
bowling alley
movie theater
flower shop (no excuse for missing an anniversary bouquet!)

Oprah Attends Barack Obama Buffet Dinner
January 19, 2009 by Jeanne
Oprah Winfrey’s best friend, Gayle King, confirmed that the daytime talk show queen, along with 100 other guests, attended a private dinner this weekend with President-elect Barack Obama at the historic Blair House which is across the street from the White House (the Blair House website describes the location as “the president’s guest house – I never knew that!).
Gayle went on to show amazement that the media had caught wind of the event since it was supposed to be "top, top secret" and describes the setting as a “buffet dinner.” That’s not exactly the best thing for Oprah …read more
Sarah Palin and Barack Obama’s Family Holiday Updates
December 31, 2008 by Jeanne
Bristol Palin, the teenage daughter of Alaskan governor, Sarah Palin, has given birth to a baby boy a week later than expected. The Today show segment provided a little glimpse into what their life has been like since Sarah Palin lost her bid to become the vice-president as John McCain’s running mate.
They explained that Bristol, and the baby’s father, Levi, have been working on completing their high school diplomas via correspondence courses. Levi dropped out and has been working in a oil field to try to provide for his young family.

Obama and Bush Meet at the White House
November 11, 2008 by Jeanne
Yesterday, president-elect, Barack Obama, and the current American leader, President George W Bush, along with their wives, Michelle and Laura, visited the White House for their first meeting since the historic election. It was Obama’s first visit to the Oval office and it’s the first time this type of meeting has taken place so early after a new president was chosen.
While the men talked about leading the nation, Laura showed Michelle around the living quarters. They must be allowed to redecorate, right? Those rooms were really ugly to me (watch the video):
I’m glad that things seemed to have gone …read more
Michelle Obama – The New First Lady
November 10, 2008 by Jeanne
While so many have focused on President-elect, Barack Obama, and how they believe he will lead the United States, the Today show painted the portrait of a new First Lady. The wife of the president is an important role since, if any of you have been married (or in a long-term relationship), you will know how much influence a spouse or partner can have. When Bill Clinton was in office, it was clear that his wife, Hillary, who unsuccessfully ran against Obama in the Democratic primaries, was a strong woman so, it is natural, to wonder about Michelle Obama. She …read more
Will Smith on Oprah: "I Lost It" Over Barack Obama Election
November 7, 2008 by Jeanne
Oprah Winfrey sat down and talked to Will Smith about how he felt when Barack Obama was named the first African-American president on her talk show yesterday. Like so many (myself and my family included), they discussed the emotion behind the historical election but, of course, Will had to bring some levity to the topic.
She asked “did you cry?” and his first was response was “I don’t be cryin’ and stuff, Oprah” but then he explained that his children were there for him as he “lost it” when Barack took the stage and made his acceptance speech. I have …read more
Will Oprah Be in Obama’s Administration?
November 7, 2008 by Jeanne
Since Oprah has been so vocal about her support of Barack Obama, some have wondered if there will be a spot for her in his administration. I think that’s both silly and unlikely (I guess stranger things have happened, though!).
This morning on the Today show, they talked a bit about that and what an endorsement from Oprah means. The things she promotes and suggests turn to gold. I know that standing behind Obama probably helped him but I can’t credit her with winning the presidential election for him.
Oprah with Tina Fey on 30 Rock Tonight!
November 6, 2008 by Jeanne
Oprah Winfrey and Tina Fey have both been tied to the U.S. elections this past year – Oprah has been a very vocal supporter of president-elect, Barack Obama while Fey has been praised for her spot-on impersonations of Governor Sarah Palin, who lost her bid to become the first female vice president with running mate, Senator John McCain.
Now, the two will be linked again when the talk show queen appears on Fey’s show 30 Rock. The guest appearance was suggested when Fey was a guest on Oprah. The comedian recently said: “this would never have happened if …read more
