Kelly Ripa Is Returning to “All My Children”
October 19, 2009 by Jeanne
Back before she was a co-host on Live! With Regis and Kelly, I used to watch Kelly Ripa as Hayley Santos on All My Children. She was married to Mateo Santos who is played by her real-life husband, Mark Consuelos (they eloped back when they were still regulars on the soap opera).
All My Children is about to celebrate their 40th anniversary and Kelly and Mark have agreed to return to Pine Valley for episodes that will air on January 4 and 5, 2010. They haven’t been on the show since they both left in 2002 so I’m interested to see how they will bring them back (and then make them go away again).
Does anyone remember Kelly back when she was playing Hayley? She was a little heavier (a lot heavier in the earlier days) and she had black hair at first but then became a blonde.
Here’s a video montage from the good ol’ days!

TR Knight Talks About “Parade” and Babies
October 18, 2009 by Jeanne
Former Grey’s Anatomy star, TR Knight was on Ellen earlier this week and I thought the interview was actually pretty adorable. He talked about being in the musical Parade but it was his story about the cast that got some laughs. He explained that one of their favorite games to play is “How Many Chins?” and he showed Ellen how to play it. Basically, one person asks the other “how many chins?” and then that person presses their chin to their chest to see how many folds, or “chins” they can create. If you don’t get it, watch the video below. It’s pretty funny.
He also talked about how his friends, including Katherine Heigl, have become parents recently and that becoming a father is something he would like to do but doesn’t know if it will work out.
If you’re a fan, you’ll love this interview!
Tyra Banks Airs First Ever Televised Colonic!
October 16, 2009 by Jeanne
We love Tyra Banks for being the crazy and wild person that she is, but she surprises us even more with her latest episode of The Tyra Banks Show. For the first time ever on television, Tyra Banks is brave enough to be the first person to air a colonic. I’m sure it was quite a surprise to the audience!
Both the colonhydrotherapist and the woman receiving the colonic are also to be applauded because there is no way I’d ever do that in front of millions of people!
Also during the show, Tyra Banks spoke with gold medalist swimmer, Ricky Berens who accidently mooned the city of Rome during the 2009 World Championships. Sounds like one crazy episode. Check out a little clip from the show, here.

10 Healthy Foods That Aren’t Very Good For You
October 16, 2009 by Jeanne
The Today show looked at 10 foods that are supposed to be “healthy” for us but really aren’t. While the label might send a certain message, all might not be as it seems. Here are the potential offenders:
- Multigrain bread – don’t be fooled by the name. Always look for something that says 100% whole grain or whole wheat. Enriched flour might be something you want to avoid.
- Reduced-fat peanut butter – regular peanut butter is possibly better because it’s heart healthy fats and the reduced-fat has more sugar.
- Energy bars – read the labels because some of those bars contain more than 400 calories. Making your own trail mix is a better alternative.
- Processed turkey – the sodium can be extremely high on deli meat.
- Bran muffins – watch the portions! Some of those giant muffins can be very high in calories!
For more tips, watch the video below!

How to Make the Perfect Crepe!
October 15, 2009 by Jeanne
Alton Brown demonstrated the proper technique for making the perfect crêpe and if you’ve never tried to make them, you might really want to take notes. Crêpes are often described as being really thin pancakes and I guess that’s a reasonable enough comparison but one of my favorite things about them is that you can roll all sorts of fillings up inside of them.
They work for dessert, brunch or breakfast (or even as a tasty treat!) so you should definitely consider giving them a try. It might take a little practice to get them right but it’s totally worth it!

Another Woman Comes Forward in Dr. Phil Lawsuit
October 14, 2009 by Jeanne
Yet another woman, Crystal Matchett, has come forward with a lawsuit against Dr. Phil. She claims that Phil forced her into a room with a man that was completely naked. ![]()
Crystal claims that she was brainwashed, was forced into the room with the naked man and in her own words claims that she "was blocked by the staff to prevent her from leaving."
This follows the lawsuit filed by a woman named Shirley Dieu, who sought help from Phil in 2007, and alleges basically the same thing, except Shirley claims that Dr. Phil touched her left breast. Of course, Dr. Phil and his people are denying it all.
Earlier this month, a statement was released and a rep for Phil said of the lawsuit, “All of Shirley Rae Dieu’s claims are without merit. As with all of the occupants of the DR. PHIL House, Ms. Dieu participated voluntarily, having submitted her personal story with the hope that she could confront, and overcome, her individual issues.”
My goodness. This is quite and interesting situation for Dr. Phil here. Is it possible that both women are lying, or has Dr. Phil really crossed the line?

Paula Deen’s Orange Coffee Cake
October 14, 2009 by Jeanne
Paula Deen shared her tips for making a delicious orange coffee cake on the Today show with Al Roker. I love coffee cake (even though I don’t drink coffee) so it’s always nice to see a new take on this classic treat. There was a bit of a fiasco in the kitchen when a man was found hiding behind a counter but then things quickly got back on track.
Paula used canned biscuits in her recipe along with sugar, orange zest, nuts and cream cheese. It looked really simple to make! I would have never thought of making a cake this way!
