2009 Daytime Emmy Award Nominees Announced!
May 15, 2009 by Jeanne
At last, the nominees for this year’s Daytime Emmy Awards have been announced! Of course, some of our favorite talk shows and talk show hosts
have been nominated so here is a list of some of the categories and nominations.
The Ellen DeGeneres Show has by far taken the crown for the most amount of nominations this year with over six of them! Rachael Ray and Dr. Phil got a good amount as well. Who are you rooting for? I have no idea who’s going to win for Outstanding Talk Show. It’s quite a close match, so it should be interesting to see who takes it!
This year Vanessa Williams will be hosting the awards show! Make sure to catch the event on August 30th at 8 pm E.T on the CW Network!

Whoopi Thought She Had Swine Flu
May 1, 2009 by Jeanne
It’s been revealed that Whoopi Goldberg was absent from her moderator’s seat on The View because she was afraid she might have the swine flu.
Originally, Barbara Walters told the audience on Tuesday that Whoopi was simply taking the day off because she didn’t want anyone to panic. Whoopi didn’t want to take any risks since her co-host, Elisabeth Hasselbeck, is pregnant and she didn’t want to infect her.
The good news is that Whoopi saw a doctor, was tested and it turns out that she only has a bad cold.

Whoopi Goldberg is an NHL Hockey Fan
April 28, 2009 by Jeanne
I love hockey and I’m thrilled to learn that Whoopi Goldberg loves the sport
too. She recently revealed during a break on The View that she likes both the New York Rangers and the New Jersey Devils. It’s a big night for her, then, since both teams will be trying to stave off elimination in Game 7 (two different series, though).
"I love the Devils and the Rangers," said Whoopi. "[Rangers center] Scott Gomez is one of my guys. He’s a really great young man."
"The players are like modern-day gladiators," said Whoopi. "They are dressed in full gear, plus they have to backward, forward, sideways on skates performing moves you might expect from Ginger Rogers in one her movies co-starring with Fred Astaire." I said almost the exact same thing when I was out shopping with my kids yesterday! What a coincidence!
I want the Devils to win tonight but I initially wanted the Rangers to lose to the Washington Capitals. I’ve since changed my mind so I’m hoping Whoopi brings good luck to both teams!

Whoopi Goldberg Attends Blossom Ball
April 22, 2009 by Jeanne
Whoopi Goldberg attended the first annual Endometriosis Foundation of America Blossom Ball earlier this week. The event was held to help raise awareness and money to fight endometriosis, a disease that affects millions of woman and adolescent girls.
The Blossom Ball was held at the Prince George Ballroom in New York City and featured a cocktail reception, dinner and silent auction. Details instructed guests to wear “cocktail attire” but I’m guessing Whoopi either missed that or chose to ignore it and, instead, went with her usual casual look.

The View Talks About Rush Limbaugh and Rihanna Reuniting with Chris Brown
Yesterday on their “Hot Topics” segment, the ladies on The View started their discussion by talking about the controversial comments made by radio talk show host, Rush Limbaugh, who has actually said that he wants President Barack Obama to fail. Was Rush out of line to make those comments? Watch this video and decide for yourself.
Another thing that they talked about are the rumors that Rihanna has taken her boyfriend, Chris Brown, back after he allegedly assaulted her. Specifically, they mentioned that Rihanna’s father, Ronald Fenty, has decided to stand behind any decision she makes. I have to admit that I’ve been bothered by her choice to even go near Chris Brown. I think he should be charged to the fullest extent of the law. Do you agree?
The View “Hot Topics” – February 17, 2009
February 18, 2009 by Jeanne
The “Hot Topics” on The View yesterday was actually pretty great. Sometimes I get really frustrated by it but it started with Elisabeth Hasselbeck talking about The Bachelor and she was cracking up about how ridiculous the episode the night before.
The ladies also talked about the ridiculous Terms of Service that Facebook tried to put forth which would have given them rights to any images their users put on their profiles. Thankfully, they’ve backed down (read more about it here).
Whoopi Goldberg also mentioned the fact that All My Children had the first same-sex marriage on daytime television. It was a big deal!
They also talked about Bristol Palin’s interview with Greta Van Susteren. The daughter of Alaskan Governor Sarah Palin became a mother at just 18 years old. The ladies on The View talked about how Bristol stated that “abstinence doesn’t work” which was a surprise since advocating abstinence was such a big part of Governor Palin’s platform. I think that it’s great to encourage your children to abstain from having sex before marriage but it’s probably also a good idea to tell them how to protect themselves if they make other decisions.
Hasselbeck Reacts to Palin Wolf Slaughter
February 6, 2009 by Jeanne
I will admit that I was startled when I first saw the video of actress, Ashley Judd, taking direct aim at Alaskan governor, Sarah Palin. Ashley, in conjunction with the Defenders of Wildlife Action Fund are trying to put a stop to Palin’s aerial-wolf killing program. They’ve launched a site called EyeonPalin.org
On The View earlier this week, they played a portion of the video for the audience. Elisabeth Hasselbeck came forward to defend the killing of the wolves since she said that it is necessary to protect the caribou population in Alaska. Elisabeth then went on to question whether Ashley is vocal in protecting the thousands of children who are killed every year through abortions. I’m sure that must have hurt Sherri Shepherd who has admitted to having terminated a pregnancy (or two) in the past.
Whoopi Goldberg Goes to NY Knicks Game
February 5, 2009 by Jeanne
The View co-host, Whoopi Goldberg, was spotted leaving Madison Square Garden last night. MSG is the home of the NBA basketball team, the New York Knicks (as well as the NHL’s New York Rangers).
I hope Whoopi isn’t a Knicks fan since they lost to the visiting Cleveland Cavaliers with a final score of 107-102. Maybe that’s why she’s got a book in her hand? A little light reading to distract from the game? Just kidding – that’s a pretty close score. Hopefully, she had a good time.

Whoopi Goldberg Makes Out With Veggies!
January 28, 2009 by Jeanne
Whoopi Goldberg went all out making fun of a recent PETA campaign that was set to air during Super Bowl XLIII but was ultimately nixed after being deemed “too racy.”
The commercial claims that vegetarians have better sex. Since they couldn’t air the ad on The View, Whoopi decided to re-enact it using a basket filled with fresh produce. The result, of course, was hilarious.
The best was when co-host, Sherri Shepherd, laughed and said “I think you got pregnant off that.” Too funny!
Whoopi Goldberg in FEARnet’s “Stream”
January 16, 2009 by Jeanne
I loved Whoopi Goldberg well before she became a co-host on The View. Of course, many will remember her many comedy roles but I truly did become a fan when she starred on Star Trek: The Next Generation. I’m a real Trekkie at heart (anyone who has met me can attest to that!) so I am pleased that she has made a return to the sci-fi genre in FEARnet’s online drama Stream.
The online series debuted on the website yesterday and will be available on VOD (video on demand) service January 22, 2009. Check out this video:
Here’s an official description of “Stream”:
Spanning 6 episodes (each several minutes in length), the series stars Whoopi as Jodi Quinn, a woman who spends a lifetime wrestling with her personal demons and gathering the strength to face her worst fears. Thanks to a drug she took when she was seventeen, moments from various points in Jodi’s life become intertwined, effectively letting her experience two moments at once. The story snaps back and forth through three phases of Jodi’s life: her past as an intelligent but headstrong teen; her present in a psychiatric facility, and her future as an adult clinging to a normal life after years of tribulation.
Interested? Watch a clip from the first episode and then visit the official Stream page for episodes, additional videos and more details.
