Tyra Dresses as Kim Kardashian For Halloween

Halloween is this Saturday so don’t be surprised to see daytime talk show hosts dressed up today. Tyra Banks has picked out her costume – she’s dressing as Kim Kardashian along with two other costume changes. I don’t know what the other two will be but I know they are real life TV personalities.

Tyra and L’il Mama Talk About VMA Drama

Tyra Banks will be welcoming L’il Kim to her talk show on Wednesday where they will talk about the stage crashing at the 2009 Video Music Awards. This time, it’s not about Kanye!

Jay-Z and Alicia Keys performed “Empire State of Mind” and L’il Mama jumped up on stage because she felt overwhelmed with emotion. Unfortunately, neither of them was happy about her sudden appearance and she has unsuccessfully reached out to both performers.

Here’s a preview of the discussion:

L’il Mama: ”I don’t think it was as serious as everyone was trying to make it out to be….When I was sitting in the stands I was very excited and I felt the connection, being from New York, being in Hip Hop…Alicia Keys being from Harlem and Jay Z being from Brooklyn and I was just so emotional. I was really feeling it….I felt like I was being embraced at the time, Jay-Z was bouncing back and I’m feeling like this whole moment is happening but I’m not planning it to be a moment, it just happened.”

Tyra: Didn’t he tap your leg though, like get back?

L’il Mama: “But I didn’t feel it….I actually saw the tap tap later and I was embarrassed, I was like ‘Whoa, Jay-Z.’”

Tyra: How did you know to do pose at end?

L’il Mama: “I’m a dancer, and I definitely felt it. I wasn’t there to ruin the performance, I wasn’t there to bring anyone down or anything down. In that moment I kind of felt it coming so I just went with the flow.”

Tyra: Have you spoken to them since?

L’il Mama: “No, I haven’t, I have tried, I got management to reach out. I would like to speak to Jay-Z one-on-one, just to see how he felt. I would just love to apologize…It was never my intent to be disrespectful to anyone. I’ve always been a respectful young woman in this industry, people know me for that.”

Tyra: Do you have a message for Alicia?

L’il Mama: “You can tell her that I apologize and I definitely plan to work with both of them in the future and I hope this didn’t rock the boat.”

Tyra Takes Us Behind-The-Scenes on “Gossip Girl” Set

On today’s episode of The Tyra Banks Show, the talk show host will take us behind-the-scenes on the set of Gossip Girl. She will be making a guest appearance on the show tonight (on the CW at 9pm!) so it will be fun to see how her cameo came to be!

In order to play Ursula on Gossip Girl, Tyra had to wear brown-colored contacts and further explains: “The people at Gossip Girl tell me I set a Gossip Girl hair change record! I had SEVEN hair changes, every single scene you see is some new hair on my head!”

Tyra Banks Eats Hot Dog From Street Vendor

On today’s episode of the Tyra Banks Show, the daytime talk show host will be sampling food from New York City’s best street vendors. Brave woman! I’m not sure I would be grabbing food from there. Then again, she does seem to make it look more appealing and will be showing her audience how to eat high-class food for low prices.

Tyra and Former Idol Locke Talk About Biracial People

On today’s episode of The Tyra Show, the talk show host welcomes former American Idol contestant, Kimberly Locke, along with other guests to talk about growing up as biracial people. Kimberly talks to Tyra about being singled out in class by a teacher because of the color of her skin.

From the previews, it looks as they they also talk to some guests who are discriminatory against themselves in one way (one man was mixed with African-American and Mexican and said that he never wants to be referred to as “Mexican” – wow).

Are you biracial or have a biracial family member? How do you feel about your identity? I am mixed-race and I really love the diversity in my life so I’m always confused, to a point, when I see people who struggle with it so badly but I guess it also depends on how you were raised, where you grew up and the messages you were sent during your upbringing.

Very interesting topic as usual, Tyra!

Tyra Banks Reveals Natural Hair – What Did You Think?

Did you see the season-opening episode of the Tyra Banks Show? Tyra revealed what her natural hair looks like and I have to say that I was pleasantly surprised. I think she looked beautiful but I have to admit that I thought her hair was going to be a lot shorter.

After seeing what it really looks like, I can’t help but wonder why she needs to wear the weave and/or extensions all the time. I can understand needing a little extra volume on certain occasions but I think she could totally rock this natural look and look great. I hope we see her real hair a lot more often!

Rachael Ray, Tyra and “The View” Win Daytime Emmy Awards!

It was a fun night watching the Daytime Emmy Awards last night. Did you catch the show? If not, here’s a quick rundown of how our shows and hosts fared.

I wasn’t surprised at all to see that the Tyra Banks Show won the “informative” talk show award since she is constantly trying to push the envelope to educate her viewers whether it’s a giant stuffed vagina or having pregnant prostitutes on the show to tell their stories. She really has carved out a niche for herself and I’m really happy for her.

The Rachael Ray show won the “entertainment” talk show prize and I have to say that I was a little surprised by it but, then again, I’m continually amazed by this show’s success. I didn’t think it was even going to last a single season but, here it is, winning awards!

I was stunned, however, when the ladies on The View beat out Ellen DeGeneres for “best talk show host” after Ellen dominated the category for the past four years. You know she’s at home right now wondering what she did wrong (nothing!). I think that viewers really connected with the discussions surrounding the 2008 US Presidential Elections on The View and that probably helped them capture the prize.

Tyra Offers “Sneak Peek” of Natural Hair

Tyra Banks has promised that she will take out her weave and hair extensions for the first episode of the upcoming season of her talk show, which debuts on September 8, 2009. I’m really happy that she’s doing it because I think that we, as a society, need to remember that what is natural is also beautiful. We are so busy plumping our lips, smoothing our skin and starving ourselves that we sometimes lose focus of the fact that we are all individuals and possess our own, natural beauty. I’m really looking forward to the show. Of course, she couldn’t reveal too much so it’s blurred out but this is what she posted on Twitpic!

Tyra Will Shed Her Weave For Talk Show Premiere

For the premiere of The Tyra Banks Show, the beautiful host will shed that long, luxurious weave that we’ve grown accustomed to. Instead, she is planning to reveal her “natural hair” on the September 8, 2009 show.

In a press release, it said: "this season on The Tyra Show we’re taking it to the next level and getting more real than ever before by encouraging women everywhere to own and rock what they’ve got and be proud! For the season 5 premiere, I will be doing just that – no fake hair, I’m rocking my REAL hair. This will all be going down on September 8, 2009, which we’re declaring National Real Hair Day! We welcome everyone to go natural with me!”

I wonder how long this will last… I’m guessing the hair will be back by the next episode. Speaking of the show, this cute pic of Tyra was snapped of her on set in Union Square. Fierce!

Tyra Banks Attends 2009 BET Awards – Pictures

Daytime talk show host, Tyra Banks, attended the 2009 BET Awards last night. She seems to have slimmed down a bit for summer but I really did not like her outfit and hairstyle. She looked happy and upbeat, though, so that’s a plus!

Tyra also presented the Best Male Athlete award to NBA superstar, Lebron James. I’m guessing she was excited that he won?
