The president of Harpo made the announcement and said that Oprah would make it official in an upcoming episode where she will explain the reasons why she is ending her run.  Her show is the top-rated U.S. daytime talk show and has attracted an average of 7.1 million viewers this year.

I’m sad to see the show come to an end but, at the same time, I think it’s the right time for her to close it down.  What do you think?

Walters is going to get her chance at needling former Alaskan governor, Sarah Palin, but not before the controversial woman sits down on Oprah in an episode airing on November 16, 2009. 

To compensate, Walters’ interview will be aired in five parts on Good Morning America and will likely focus on Palin’s failed run for the White House (as John McCain’s vice president) as well as her new book, Going Rogue: An American Life.

It’s November sweeps, folks, so I’m not surprised that these two are scrambling to sit down with Palin.  I’m not sure how much we are going to learn, though, since it’s hard to know whether Palin is telling the truth about anything. 

I’m not saying that negatively but I just feel like there’s so much drama and secrecy surrounding her life.  It would be interesting to see what she says, though.

He was amazingly candid and talked about how he is tired of failing and has to really focus on being honest and loyal in his relationships with his loved ones since he feels that the potential to ruin everything is so great.

Last year, Oprah is said to have lost $400 million. Her show dropped in ratings and her O magazine didn’t sell quite as well as it should have. Her estimated net worth is about $2.3 billion. 

In other, Oprah-related news, the talk show queen has been working together with First Lady, Michelle Obama to try to get the 2016 Olympics to be held in Chicago, Illinois. The hometown of President Barack Obama.

Michelle and Oprah flew out to Denmark to lobby members of the International Olympic Committee in order to win the bid. We’ll just have to wait and see how that turns out!

Oprah sits down with Whitney Houston and I seriously cannot wait to hear what they talked about!  I’m sure they will talk about Whitney’s divorce from Bobby Brown as well as her drug use and life with her daughter, Bobbi Christina.

Oprah’s website says that no topic is off-limits and Whitney had so much to say that they couldn’t cram it in to a single hour so the interview will be a two-part with the second half airing tomorrow.

After you’ve seen the show, come back here and tell me what you thought of it.  I’m very happy that Whitney is now drug-free and I hope this is the beginning of her journey back to the life she deserves.

I don’t know if she’s bringing her almost month-old son, David, with her but Hudson will be part of the festivities on the Magnificent Mile.  I’m guessing she’s going to perform since other well-known people who will be at the event include illusionist Criss Angel and the Black Eyed Peas.

In case you live in or will be visiting Chicago tomorrow, I thought I’d let you know that the Oprah party will be shutting down some of North Michigan Avenue.

Whitney Houston

It’s been just about seven years since Ms. Houston sat down with anyone and it’s been an incredible seven years for her. 

She has battled her drug addiction, left her abusive husband, hooked up with a younger man and she’s releasing her new album, I Look To You, on August 31, 2009. 

Oprah is calling it "the most anticipated music interview of the decade" and has deemed it important enough to be the first interview of her 24th season. 

You know that Oprah is going to ask the questions you want to know (she has made me squirm on numerous occasions). 

What are you hoping Oprah will ask?  I want to hear about what really went down with her ex-husband, Bobby, and I want to know about her struggles with drugs since she has vehemently denied rumors of her addiction in the past. 

I’d also like to hear how her daughter, Bobbi Christina, is doing.  Whitney’s been great at keeping her out of the public eye but I’d like to know how she handled her parents’ divorce and her mother’s rehabilitation.

Whatever the case, it’s going to be an interesting episode!

Shriver will be remembered not only as a member of the Kennedy family (and mother to Maria Shriver, the wife of Arnold Schwarzenneggar) but also as the founder of the Special Olympics. 

Robert F. Kennedy Jr. had some incredibly touching things to say about he Kennedy family matriarch.  Aside from calling the Special Olympics “one of the most important grassroots civil rights groups in history” he added: “Eunice saw value in every human being and knew that wisdom doesn’t come from intellectual ability; it comes from knowledge of God’s will.  More than teaching people with special needs what they are capable of, the Special Olympics gave the broader public a new definition of victory – bravery in the attempt.

He also spoke of her incredible personality saying that she was never vain and “never did her hair … and nobody noticed because of the chaos she brought with her.  She was in constant motion.”

I’m sure that a woman of her energy and spirit will be greatly missed by those around her.  I was surprised to see Oprah at the funeral but I shouldn’t have been.  Eunice Kennedy Shriver was an extraordinary woman and her family should be very proud of the legacy that she leaves behind.

A part of an interview with Jay-Z for O magazine, Oprah walked through the streets of Jay-Z’s old stomping grounds to show the harsh and impoverished conditions he grew up.  Of course, they will also talk about Jay’s meteoric rise to fame, his efforts to help underprivileged youth and his life with superstar wife, Beyoncé.

Initially, I was pretty surprised to hear that Oprah went anywhere with a rapper since she’s been pretty vocal about her dislike for hip-hop music, artists and culture. 

She hasn’t had many on her show but I’m guessing her good friendship with Beyoncé helped bridge the gap.  It doesn’t hurt that even President Obama has admitted to having some Jay-Z and rap on his iPod. 

Jay must have really won Oprah over, too, since she had some incredible things to say.  According to MTV, Oprah told Gayle King on her satellite radio show:  "Oh, Jay-Z, my new best friend.  He was so charming and delightful, and he smelled so good! And it’s that kind of thing where you hug a guy, and the scent is sort of buried in them. When we went to the second location, I could still smell him on me. It was like, ‘Oh, this is wonderful.’  It was really a conversation, and at the end of the day, you feel like you get to know someone.  I feel like I met a new friend. It was really great."  Finally, a hip-hop artist who has earned a thumbs up from Oprah!

No details were given about when the interview would be included in O magazine but I’m going to keep my eyes open for it!
