Martha Stewart Comes to Mariah Carey’s Defense

June 26, 2009 by Jeanne

Yesterday, Perez Hilton, called Mariah Carey “unprofessional” and a “major diva” because (according to his Cartier 100 Anniversary New York“sources”) she was several hours late for a video shoot for a Macy’s commercial which infuriated the other celebrities including Donald Trump and Jessica Simpson.

Meanwhile, Martha Stewart who was a major part of the production had been tweeting updates from the video shoot all morning.  I thought it was amazing when she tweeted: "by the way mariah did not keep us waiting as reported by perez hilton the shoo[t] is on schedule thanks to [director Barry] sonnenfeld’s complete command."

I am so glad that Martha Stewart stood up for Mariah and I hope that more and more people will call Perez out when he spreads lies and cruel gossip around about people.  As a blogger, I know that we can sometimes get things wrong and it’s not our fault but it’s awful to label someone, a human being, as being a “diva” or “unprofessional” when you don’t even know the circumstances.

Good for you, Martha!

Martha Stewart and Rachael Ray Share on iGoogle

June 3, 2009 by Jeanne

Google has launched a new project called iGoogle Showcase and it looks pretty cool from what I can tell.  Basically, it’s a collection of links to the personalized iGoogle homepages of celebrities and features some Rachael Ray3970.JPGof their favorite content.  Among the growing list of stars on iGoogle are daytime talk show hosts, Martha Stewart and Rachael Ray.

What’s on their iGoogle pages?  Martha created an iGoogle theme just for her beloved dogs, she has a picture of them on her Picasa gadget and she reads O’Reilly’s Radar to keep up with what’s happening in the world of technology.  Her other gadgets include BBC, Twitter, Amazon, CNN and Financial Times.

Rachael Ray’s theme is of Positano, Italy and her gadgets included “What’s Up with Rachael Ray,” Word Scramble, Flixster, Weather, Google Bookmarks and CNN (I’ve heard that she’s a big fan of Anderson Cooper – who also has an iGoogle profile!).

Martha Stewart Criticizes Ryan Seacrest’s Green Room

April 22, 2009 by Jeanne

Martha Stewart visited the radio show of American Idol host, Ryan Seacrest but she didn’t have great things to say about his “Green Room.”  She went on and on about how everything in the room was grey except for the curtains which contained a bit of green which, she believed, had been chosen out of guilt because the rest of the room wasn’t green.

She then added that her Green Room for the Martha Stewart Show is beautiful because it has Martha Stewart furniture, the rug is luxurious and the walls are actually a greenish color.  WOW.

At least she liked the food, right?  Watch this video.  It’s always fun to watch Martha in her element.

Daytime Talk Show Hosts Remember Natasha Richardson

March 19, 2009 by Jeanne

After the shocking and tragic death of Natasha Richardson yesterday, daytime talk show hosts and other celebrities (and us common folks) began remembering the actress who was fatally injured in a skiing accident near sipaphotostwo326414-IN-MEMORIAM-NAT Montreal, Quebec on Monday.  Here are some of the quotes I’ve heard/read:

Oprah Winfrey: "I just want to say how deeply saddened I am, we all are, by the sudden passing of actress Natasha Richardson yesterday. Our thoughts and prayers are with her husband Liam Neeson, their two sons, the rest of their family and friends. Yet another reminder of how fleeting life can be and how precious. We need to value every moment."

Kelly Ripa: "She was a lady. I can’t tell you enough what a good person she was, and fun and vivacious and the most full of life."

Martha Stewart (via Twitter): "Just heard the tragic news about poor Natasha Richardson. Her family must be devastated. My sincerest condolences to all."

Regis and Joy Philbin: "They live around the corner from us. It’s such a surprise. She’s a lovely woman. Liam and those two little boys are great. They’re a lovely family."

The Today show also aired a segment about Natasha Richardson’s rich and vibrant life.  She will be missed.

Martha Stewart’s Spring Cleaning Tips!

March 17, 2009 by Jeanne

Springtime is almost upon us even if, for some of us, it still looks like we are in the middle of winter.  Even if the weather isn’t cooperating, I know that getting my house in order always makes it feel like the seasons are changing.  If you’re feeling the itch to get your spring cleaning underway, Martha Stewart has some tips for making it all go smoothly and look beautiful!IMLSmart002275-Young-woman-wateringOn her website, Martha has an entire section devoted to the yearly ritual.  Naturally, it is well-organized so that you can tackle the cleaning one step at a time.  Here are some of the sections that I have found most useful:

Since it can be an overwhelming and daunting task, she’s also put together a collection of time-saving tips.  Some of the things she suggests include having your cleaning supplies ready to use inside of a bucket, organizing your broom closet and having a recipe file.

You can also download and print off this handy spring cleaning checklist

Martha Stewart’s Puppy Dies, Ellen Sends Flowers

March 12, 2009 by Jeanne

Robert F. Kennedy Center For Justice & Human Rights Bridge Dedication

Martha Stewart is mourning the loss of her pet chow chow, Genghis Khan.  The poor little animal was killed when a propane delivery at an elite kennel went wrong, caused an explosion and killed almost two dozen dogs.

The blast took place at a Carbon County kennel in Pennsylvania and some of the victims included show dogs.  The delivery man and some police officers were burned when they tried to rescue as many dogs as they could.

Martha, who is clearly devastated by the news, wrote about the loss on her blog and twittered her appreciation to fans for their support and to Ellen Degeneres, who sent Martha yellow roses in the pup’s memory.

Less than a year ago, Martha lost another dog, Kublai Khan Paw Paw Chow Chow Chow (better known as “Paw Paw”).  The blog post that she wrote at that time caused some to raise their eyebrows since she posted pictures of the dog slowly dying over his last day of life and then showed his body wrapped and ready for burial.  Some people thought it was touching, others thought it was downright creepy.  Regardless, it is unfortunate that she has to go through this again so soon.

Martha Stewart Makes Crafts With Q-Tip

March 8, 2009 by Jeanne

Rapper, Q-Tip, visited Martha Stewart on her daytime talk show where she taught him how to make a Q-Tip holder (too funny!). It looked a little difficult since she needed to solder the box together.  I don’t know all that many people who have soldering tools in their homes.

Q also asked her for advice on taking care of his Boston Terrier, Monk.  He wanted to know how to make sure his dog’s hair looked healthy and shiny.

Make a Martha Stewart Valentine’s Day Card

February 6, 2009 by Jeanne

Martha Stewart has put up her 2009 Valentine’s Day Workshop and I think it’s absolutely fabulous!  There are so many great tips for putting that final touch on your special day.

martha stewart valentines

This week’s projects include Quilled Valentines made of rolled paper strips, Marbleized Cards (they are really pretty!), Floral Cutout Cards and Rosy Stationery

As if those don’t sound great enough, she’s got Ribbon-Punched Valentines under the crafts section and there are activities designed specifically for children

I’m not an arts and crafts type of person but I think this could be a fun thing to do as a family over the weekend.  It’s nice to find some quiet time and just reconnect without the television on and all the distractions of our busy lives!

Martha and Snoop Dogg Cook Together

November 25, 2008 by Jeanne

Martha Stewart welcomed Snoop Dogg to her show last week where they made mashed potatoes with cognac.  She asked about his upcoming Christmas album which, he said, contains a song called "Santa Claus Goes Straight to the Ghetto."  Too funny!

She told him to put a stick of butter into the mixing bowl to which he replies "the whole thang?"  She says "yes" and then he asks if it’s Parkay or margarine (she reiterates that it’s butter).  So then he mentions that he used to like the Parkay commercials and says "Par-kaaaay" (remember those?).  What a cooking segment!  I had fun just watching it.
