Kathie Lee Insults MC Hammer In Front of Son
June 11, 2009 by Jeanne
Kathie Lee Gifford made some comments yesterday that have caused a real stir across the internet. When she and co-host, Hoda Kotb, were talking to MC Hammer yesterday morning, Kathie Lee thought it was appropriate to address the rapper’s 10-year-old son to talk about his father’s failed career. He said that it was not something that should be said to a child and she still pressed on saying that his son could learn lessons from his mistakes. Wow.
Watch the interview (try not to squirm) and let me know what you think:
Kathie Lee Has Advice for Kate Gosselin
June 2, 2009 by Jeanne
Today show host, Kathie Lee Gifford, has weighed in on the problems of Kate Gosselin (Jon and Kate Plus 8) and her family. If you remember, Kathie Lee has also suffered from marital problems (her husband, Frank Gifford, was caught having an affair with a flight attendant back in 1997) and I guess she’s learned a few lessons from that.
While speaking to Us Magazine at an event at the American Theatre Wing in New York City, Kathie said: "I would turn off the cameras if I were them and just work on healing together as a family. Who knows the long-term damage something like this could do? I understand they are making a living, but you have to wonder at what price." Jon has said that he no longer wants to live his life in front of the cameras while Kate wishes to continue the show.
With such strong words for the reality TV family, is Kathie Lee watching the show? No, she says. "Frank and I are probably the only two people in America avoiding that show. We are not reality fans and prefer to live reality. We sure don’t want cameras following us around and picking on us!"
I never thought the day would come when I would say this but… I agree with Kathie Lee. I think that for the sake of their children and their marriage, they should stop the show and work things out. Sure, they might lose the $75,000 per episode that they’ve been making but, surely, with what they’ve already been paid and Kate’s book sales, there is enough for this family to live on. What’s more important, anyway? Money or your family? Fortunately, they’ve got enough of both to go around…

May 15, 2009 by Jeanne
At last, the nominees for this year’s Daytime Emmy Awards have been announced! Of course, some of our favorite talk shows and talk show hosts

The Ellen DeGeneres Show has by far taken the crown for the most amount of nominations this year with over six of them! Rachael Ray and Dr. Phil got a good amount as well. Who are you rooting for? I have no idea who’s going to win for Outstanding Talk Show. It’s quite a close match, so it should be interesting to see who takes it!
This year Vanessa Williams will be hosting the awards show! Make sure to catch the event on August 30th at 8 pm E.T on the CW Network!

Zac Efron Talks About 17 Again, Gets Confronted by Kathie Lee
Zac Efron was on the Today show this morning to talk about his new movie 17 Again. The plot reminds me of a combination of Freaky Friday and Big since he plays the younger version of Matthew Perry’s character who suddenly is 17-years-old again. Unfortunately, his film promotion wasn’t the highlight of the interview…
I haven’t been able to find a video but, this past weekend, Zac Efron hosted Saturday Night Live and it was a pretty good episode. Of course, the show
couldn’t resist making fun of the one-year anniversary of Kathie Lee Gifford and Hoda Kotb pairing up. Zac played Kathie Lee’s infamous son, Cody (anyone who watched Regis and Kathie Lee knows that the woman bordered on obsessed with the child).
I didn’t realize the former High School Musical star was going to be on the Today show. He must have been a bit nervous about the appearance after the skit.
Anyway, Matt Lauer started asking him about the skit when Kathie Lee walked out from backstage with curlers in her hair. AWKWARD. She came out with a picture to show Zac what Cody really looks like and told him that Cody is “way younger than you, way taller than you and way better looking.” Fortunately, she agreed that it is a compliment to have someone as popular as Zac Efron portraying Cody in the SNL skit but I wonder if, deep down, she was cranky about it. She seemed a little miffed to me. Watch the segment:

Test Your St. Patrick’s Day Knowledge!
March 17, 2009 by Jeanne
Today is St. Patrick’s Day and, those who celebrate, might have some fun
watching this segment from the Today show where they can test their knowledge about the day!
Here are the questions that Kathie Lee Gifford was asking people on the streets of New York:
- What nationality was St. Patrick?
- What is the meaning of the shamrock?
- What is the most common surname in Ireland?
- What is the capital of Ireland?
- What is Ireland’s national drink?
- What is the national symbol of Ireland?

Today Show Kitche: Cooking Asian Cuisine
March 9, 2009 by Jeanne
On the Today show, hosts Hoda Kotb and Kathie Lee Gifford, took a look at Asian cuisine. As Hoda pointed out, there are 47 countries in Asia (did you know there were that many?!) and each has their own distinct culture and cooking style which makes food from this region so diverse and flavorful.
They invited one of my favorite television chefs, Ming Tsai, to help them showcase the different foods. They started with Chinese food and, of course, Kathie had to make faces about things that she didn’t like but then stuffed an entire lettuce wrap in her mouth and then vomited off screen. Moving on…
They also had some Bubble Tea (I’ve always wanted to try that!). Other cuisines that they explored include Korean and Indian (my favorite!) and then they finished the segments by making some delicious-looking dumplings!
Hoda and Kathie Lee Learn the Masala Bhangra Dance
March 4, 2009 by Jeanne
Today show hosts, Hoda Kotb and Kathie Lee Gifford, learned the Masala Bhangra Dance on the show and it looks like a lot of fun. Hoda did reasonably well but poor Kathie Lee spent most of the dance scrambling around.
Watch the dance and see if you can follow along as well!
SNL Makes Fun of Kathie Lee and Hoda
This weekend on Saturday Night Live, they decided to poke fun and parody the Today show’s Hoda Kotb and Kathie Lee Gifford. I think they did an excellent job since this is basically, exactly how I see the pairing. Kathie Lee always goes a little off the deep end and verges on obnoxious/insulting while Hoda tries to reel her in and, at least, appear to be professional.
Today Show’s Hoda and Kathie Lee To Appear on “Lipstick Jungle”
January 9, 2009 by Jeanne
Hoda Kotb and Kathie Lee Gifford will be appearing on the finale of Lipstick Jungle tonight which, sadly, could be the show’s last episode.
Hoda and Kathie Lee will be playing themselves when a character from Jungle appears on the Today show in an effort to improve her professional life.
I’ve never watched the show but I’ll tune in to see Hoda and Kathie Lee.

Kathie Lee Talks About Her Play "Saving Aimee"
August 21, 2008 by Jeanne
Today show correspondent, Kathie Lee Gifford, acted like she couldn’t wait to get away from the paparazzi, rushed to get into her car and then actually rolled down her window for more face time. She talked about a play that she wrote called “Saving Aimee.” Watch the video here:
