Elisabeth Hasselbeck Sued Over Book Idea
June 23, 2009 by Jeanne
Elisabeth Hasselbeck is being sued over her book The G-Free Diet: A Gluten-Free Survival Guide. The
View co-host released the book after being diagnosed with celiac disease which is an autoimmune disorder linked to gluten proteins (like the ones you’d find in wheat, barley and rye). Unfortunately, it could be that Elisabeth’s experience wasn’t her only source of inspiration for writing the book.
According to the Boston Herald, a woman named Susan Hassett sent Hasselbeck a copy of her own self-published work, Living with Celiac Disease, along with “a homemade cooking video, a personal note, a newspaper article and a business card.”
So far, Elisabeth hasn’t responded to the allegations but I would like to know just how similar the books are. This health-related stuff can be so similar since, unless the author has stumbled upon some huge breakthrough, it’s all just a variation on what researchers have discovered. I hope Elisabeth didn’t steal from that woman but I guess it will be up to a court of law to decide.

Third Pregnancy Different For Hasselbeck
May 4, 2009 by Jeanne
Elisabeth Hasselbeck is pregnant but The View co-host is approaching this third pregnancy very differently. She’s already got two children, Grace, 4, and son Taylor Thomas, 1, so I’m guessing there’s just a lot less time to think about being pregnant (plus she works, of course).
She recently confessed to People magazine: "I’m definitely not paying attention to my pregnancy. That won’t be true for the child [when it arrives]. But now, when you have two kids running around you’re not the pregnant person you were before. For the first pregnancy, you’re a pregnant goddess and everyone is running around giving you water. But the third time around, you’re just lucky to have a prenatal pill by the end of day!"
I can understand exactly what she means. My third pregnancy was high-risk so I was thinking about that quite a bit but the regular pregnancy stuff was second-nature by then. I wasn’t as worried and cautious as I had been the first couple times.
Hasselbeck is also giving Grace and Taylor time to bond before getting them all ready for the new arrival. "I’m just letting them really enjoy this time as brother and sister," she said. "Then I’ll throw in the word baby once in awhile to remind them."

Pregnant Elisabeth Hasselbeck Hit By Bike
April 15, 2009 by Jeanne
On this morning’s show, pregnant Elisabeth Hasselbeck told her co-hosts on The View that she was hit by a delivery bike as she tried to hail a cab in New York City.
She explained “I text my husband ‘got hit by a bike’ and then tweeted ‘got hit by a bike’ just in case somebody found me passed out somewhere. And apparently somebody got their pizza or burger on time, because that guy was in a rush."
On Twitter, she first posted “was hit by a bike today on a sidewalk … thankfully the belly is ok. wondering how many other new yorkers have had the same thing happen …"
I’m guessing she got a lot of replies on that one since she later updated and said "apparently, almost everyone in this city has been hit by a bike at some point. ONLY IN NYC!"
How scary, though! I’m just glad that her baby seems to be alright!

Elisabeth Hasselbeck Launches Clothing Line
I hadn’t heard about it before but The View co-host, Elisabeth Hasselbeck, launched a new clothing line on QVC last night which is comprised of
separates designed for women.
She said that she was inspired to create three-quarter length tops and Capri pants because her co-host Joy Behar regularly says that “the wrists and ankles are the last to go.” That was smart! I never heard that but it’s cool to showcase that part of a woman if it is true (it makes sense, doesn’t it?).
“I took animal to the next level,” Elisabeth said of this sheer blouse ($54.54). She told Joy that “it’ll let you survive any hot flash.”
The Elisabeth Hasselbeck for Dialogue clothing line can be viewed on the QVC website.
The View Talks About Rush Limbaugh and Rihanna Reuniting with Chris Brown
Yesterday on their “Hot Topics” segment, the ladies on The View started their discussion by talking about the controversial comments made by radio talk show host, Rush Limbaugh, who has actually said that he wants President Barack Obama to fail. Was Rush out of line to make those comments? Watch this video and decide for yourself.
Another thing that they talked about are the rumors that Rihanna has taken her boyfriend, Chris Brown, back after he allegedly assaulted her. Specifically, they mentioned that Rihanna’s father, Ronald Fenty, has decided to stand behind any decision she makes. I have to admit that I’ve been bothered by her choice to even go near Chris Brown. I think he should be charged to the fullest extent of the law. Do you agree?
The View “Hot Topics” – February 17, 2009
February 18, 2009 by Jeanne
The “Hot Topics” on The View yesterday was actually pretty great. Sometimes I get really frustrated by it but it started with Elisabeth Hasselbeck talking about The Bachelor and she was cracking up about how ridiculous the episode the night before.
The ladies also talked about the ridiculous Terms of Service that Facebook tried to put forth which would have given them rights to any images their users put on their profiles. Thankfully, they’ve backed down (read more about it here).
Whoopi Goldberg also mentioned the fact that All My Children had the first same-sex marriage on daytime television. It was a big deal!
They also talked about Bristol Palin’s interview with Greta Van Susteren. The daughter of Alaskan Governor Sarah Palin became a mother at just 18 years old. The ladies on The View talked about how Bristol stated that “abstinence doesn’t work” which was a surprise since advocating abstinence was such a big part of Governor Palin’s platform. I think that it’s great to encourage your children to abstain from having sex before marriage but it’s probably also a good idea to tell them how to protect themselves if they make other decisions.
Elisabeth Hasselbeck Upset By Wii Fit
February 16, 2009 by Jeanne
Elisabeth Hasselbeck struck out at Nintendo’s Wii Fit because she was upset to hear that a third-grader that she knows was considered “obese” after he stepped on the scale. They went on to discuss whether the game should put labels on users.
Watch the segment first and then we can discuss:
Here’s the thing – Wii Fit is not a game, in my opinion. It’s a tool to help users gain awareness about their body as well as develop techniques that will keep them in shape and balanced. I’m overweight and I don’t love hearing that I need to lose weight but, honestly, I NEED to hear it.
Whoopi Goldberg implied and assumed that the kids were probably not obese (she didn’t even ask) but I would like to say that I have three children who have different body types and who are different ages. They all use and love Wii Fit and, in my experience, the feedback it provides regarding Body Mass Index and weight is accurate.
What do you think? Should the Wii Fit lie to children about their body size?
Hasselbeck Reacts to Palin Wolf Slaughter
February 6, 2009 by Jeanne
I will admit that I was startled when I first saw the video of actress, Ashley Judd, taking direct aim at Alaskan governor, Sarah Palin. Ashley, in conjunction with the Defenders of Wildlife Action Fund are trying to put a stop to Palin’s aerial-wolf killing program. They’ve launched a site called EyeonPalin.org
On The View earlier this week, they played a portion of the video for the audience. Elisabeth Hasselbeck came forward to defend the killing of the wolves since she said that it is necessary to protect the caribou population in Alaska. Elisabeth then went on to question whether Ashley is vocal in protecting the thousands of children who are killed every year through abortions. I’m sure that must have hurt Sherri Shepherd who has admitted to having terminated a pregnancy (or two) in the past.
Elisabeth Hasselbeck Announces Pregnancy
January 29, 2009 by Jeanne
The View co-host, Elisabeth Hasselbeck, has announced that she is pregnant with her third child. She said that it was a shock because they had a hard time getting pregnant the first two times.
In fact, she said that she didn’t realize she was pregnant for two whole months (I’ve been there!). The baby is due this August.
