Matt Lauer’s Rare Look Inside Jackson’s Neverland Ranch

July 2, 2009 by Jeanne

Today show host, Matt Lauer, interviewed Michael Jackson’s older brother, Jermaine Jackson, this morning and was given a rare behind-the-scene glimpse of Jackson’s beloved Neverland Ranch.

neverland ranch It was a very emotional discussion, of course, with Jermaine speaking candidly about his brother’s death a week ago today.

He recalled how he learned about the tragic news: “She was crying, saying he was dead. To hear my mother say, ‘Michael is dead,’ to feel and hear the tone in her voice to say her child is dead, is nothing that anyone can ever imagine.  I tried to console her but I wanted to see Michael and I wanted to see my brother. To see him there lifeless and breathless was very emotional for me. But I held myself together because I knew he’s very much alive in his spirit, and that was just a shell. But I kissed him on his forehead, and I hugged him, and I touched him and I said Michael, ‘I’ll never leave you. You’ll never leave me.’”

Even more heartwrenching was what he said next:  “I don’t know how people are going to take this, but I wish it was me.  I’ve always felt that I was his backbone; someone to — someone to be there for him.”

I’ve been wondering how Michael’s three children have been coping.  On that subject, Jermaine said that they took the kids to see Michael after he had died: “I know it’s tough, but I think it was the best thing to do. At first I was against it, but what do you say if you don’t show them?”

The children a currently in the care of Michael’s mother, Katharine, which would have been his wishes, according to his will.  Jermaine said: “I thought it was a great will because the children are fine, my mother’s the perfect person to be there, and it’s definitely him.”

He also led Lauer around the massive grounds of Neverland Ranch.

Jermain also spoke of his brother’s strength: “Michael has always been a person who was against anything like that. But I’m not saying it’s right, because it’s not right, but in this business the pressures and things that you go through, you never know what one turn(s) to.”

While funeral plans are still being made, Jermaine did comment on the speculation that Michael could be buried at Neverland: “This is his home. He created this. Why wouldn’t he be here?”

See Video From Ellen and Portia’s Wedding!

October 24, 2008 by Jeanne

I hadn’t seen this video before but it’s a beautiful behind-the-scenes look at Ellen Degeneres‘ marriage to Portia De Rossi.  It was so elegant and pretty.  It was also pretty emotional to watch because the couple were so excited.  The video also includes some pretty incredible pictures from their big day!  It’s hard to understand the hatred over gay relationships when you see so much love in a family like theirs.  I wish them all the best!

Tyra Banks at Fashion Rocks 2008 - Pictures

Conde Nast Media Group's Fifth Anniversary Of Fashion Rocks - Arrivals

Daytime talk show host, Tyra Banks, attending the Conde Nast Media Group’s Fifth Annual Fashion Rocks at Radio City Music Hall earlier today.  I’m sorry but I am not completely digging her outfit or her hair.  She almost looks like she should be in the Rocky Horror Picture Show.  It’s as if she was going for the Vampyra look except that she’s wearing red and not black.  Then again, it is late and I could just be nitpicking…

The newest season of her show, America’s Next Top Model started this week. Did anyone watch it?

Stand Up To Cancer - Arrivals

Talk show host, Katie Couric was on the Stand Up to Cancer special last night and I found the whole evening just really touching.  Katie lost her husband, Jay Couric, to colon cancer 10 years ago and she has been very active about raising awareness ever since (she even underwent a colonoscopy on live television a few years back - remember that?!).  The night was capped by a performance of “Just Stand Up” which is a song to benefit the cause performed by some of the world’s most successful female singers including Carrie Underwood, Fergie and Beyoncé.  Watch the performance on Idol Stalker!

Tyra Banks Celebrates All-Black Issue of Vogue Italia

Tyra Banks and friends celebrate the first ever all-black-model issue of Vogue Italia

Horrible crimped hair aside, I think Tyra Banks looks really great as she celebrates the first all-black model issue of Vogue Italia along with Veronica Webb, Chanel Iman, Beverly Johnson and Noemie Lenoir.  I remember when Beverly Johnson was really huge in the industry and I’m so happy to see her looking so beautiful after all these years.

Martha Stewart Helps Mark 150 Years of Macy’s

Christina Aguilera and other stars mark 150 years of Macy's

Martha Stewart, and other celebrities like Christina Aguilera, participated in photoshoots to help commemorate the 150th birthday of Macy’s.  I know that Macy’s is like department store royalty but is anyone else just not in love with them?  I was in the States this past week and marched my teenaged daughter in there for the first time and she was, well… underwhelmed.

What do you love about Macy’s?

Kelly Ripa hosts Super Saturday 11 in the Hamptons

Kelly Ripa, co-host of Live with Regis and Kelly, played hostess during Super Saturday 11 in the Hamptons this past weekend.  Designer Donna Karan was the underwriter but wasn’t able to attend since she was in Africa buying fabrics for what I’m sure will be a fabulous collection!  She was there in spirit, however, since Kelly wore one of her dresses.  Check out these pictures from the event (some even include Kelly’s daughter, Lola Consuelos!):
