How to Pull Off the Perfect Pound Cake

May 13, 2009 by Jeanne

I love to cook but I’m not much of a baker so any time that I can get some advice on how to make something that goes in my oven a little better, my ears perk up and I listen.

On the Today show, they talked about how to make the perfect pound cake.  I really was interested because I think this dessert is extremely versatile.  You can do so many things with pound cake.  It can be perfect in the morning as a quick breakfast with coffee or tea.  You can heat up some strawberries and pour them over slices of the cake and top it with whipped cream.  I’ve even had cubed pound cake mixed in with strawberry Jell-O (and it was delicious!).  The only bad thing is that I’ve never been able to make it properly.

The tips for making the “perfect pound cake” (I wish they would do a segment on Angel’s Food Cake too!) included using cream cheese and butter.  Sounds fattening but delicious!
