Tyra Banks Show Nominated by GLAAD
January 29, 2009 by Jeanne
The Tyra Banks Show is being recognized at the GLAAD Awards. The Gay & Lesbian Alliance Against Defamation feels that Tyra is one celebrity who has “used their positions of power within the media to become strong advocates on behalf of the LGBT community. They are changing hearts and minds, opening people’s eyes to our common humanity, and it is our privilege to honour them."
I’m not surprised at all! Tyra regularly features gay, lesbian and bisexual guests. Recently, she had actor/comedian, Andy Dick, along with the twins from A Double Shot at Love on to discuss their sexuality.
Every year the GLAAD Awards seek to recognize "fair, accurate and inclusive representations of the lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender community." The winners will be announced in the coming months.

Whoopi Goldberg Makes Out With Veggies!
January 28, 2009 by Jeanne
Whoopi Goldberg went all out making fun of a recent PETA campaign that was set to air during Super Bowl XLIII but was ultimately nixed after being deemed “too racy.”
The commercial claims that vegetarians have better sex. Since they couldn’t air the ad on The View, Whoopi decided to re-enact it using a basket filled with fresh produce. The result, of course, was hilarious.
The best was when co-host, Sherri Shepherd, laughed and said “I think you got pregnant off that.” Too funny!
Kevin Connolly Talks About New Movie on Today Show
January 28, 2009 by Jeanne
Are you a fan of the HBO show Entourage? I’m a huge fan of the show and Kevin Connelly, who plays “E” (or Eric) is my favorite character so I was thrilled to see him on the Today show. He talked about his new movie He’s Just Not That Into You, which is based on the bestselling novel of the same name by Greg Behrendt and Liz Tuccillo).
Hoda Kotb said that she saw the movie and thought it was great. Kevin stressed that it’s not just a “chick flick” but that it’s a movie that all “people can go to see” and enjoy. I know that I’m definitely interested (especially now that I know he’s in it!). Watch the interview here:
Donny and Marie Osmond on Bonnie Hunt Show
January 28, 2009 by Jeanne
Famous siblings, Donny and Marie Osmond, were on the Bonnie Hunt Show yesterday. Right from the moment they walked out they were entertaining – Marie chose to take the stairs while Donny took the fireman’s pole (Donny called Bonnie a whimp for not having ever gone down the pole). Marie looked so slender and good!
Bonnie brought up their show in Las Vegas and how it’s been 29 years since they had their televised variety program. The siblings took turns taking jabs at each other but they stressed that they really do get along. Bonnie asked them about how they managed to stay close all these years and both Donny and Marie credited the strength of their parents for their resilience.
In the second part of the interview, Bonnie asked Marie about her stint on Dancing with the Stars and then Bonnie asked Donny if he would consider doing that show. He said that he was “seriously considering it” especially because he can’t let his sister upstage him. Wow!
They also took a look at Marie’s hairstyles over the years which, of course, was hilarious! Things did get more serious when they talked about what they were giving to Bonnie’s Basement (a charity). Marie showed some of the dolls that Marie has designed (including one created for the American Heart Association) while Donnie offered a pair of tickets to their Vegas show, a backstage tour and dinner with him (he said he cleared it with his wife). Those are great donations!!!

Today Show Tips to Avoid the Family Cold
January 27, 2009 by Jeanne
It’s cold and flu season and I’ve heard a lot of my own friends saying that they’ve got a sick child/spouse at home and basically resign to catching the bug themselves. The Today show looked at ways to prevent the spread of germs in your home when someone is battling something like the common cold.
The began the segment by listing “must-haves” for your medicine cabinet:
- Fever or pain reducer
- Nasal saline drops
- Antihistimine
- Extra medicine droppers
- Antibacterial ointment
- Moisturizer
- Thermometer
- Honey (it’s shown to be an effective cough suppressant)
The tips to avoid passing a virus from one person to another included:
- Sneeze into the crook of your elbow, not your hand (but definitely make sure you cover your mouth and nose ANY TIME you sneeze!!!)
- Frequent hand-washing (at least for 30 seconds) or hand sanitizer (at least 60% alcohol)
- Clean “germ magnets” like remote controls, doorknobs, etc…
