Oprah Getting Fit for Obama’s Inauguration

December 19, 2008 by Jeanne

Oprah Winfrey Oprah Winfrey recently disclosed the fact that she has put some weight back on and is not hovering around 200 pounds.  After reading that she was embarrassed to stand alongside Tina Turner and Cher back in April, I’m not surprised to learn that she is trying to lose weight in order to look good at Barack Obama’s presidential inauguration next month.  Supposedly, she wants to lose 15 pounds by January 20, 2009 and I guess it’s possible with all the access she’s got to chefs and trainers.  It’s going to be tough to be strong during the holidays but I’m confident she can do it.

Her trainer, Bob Greene, told OK! magazine: “Oprah knows the rules.  I have five weeks. She’ll be aggressive and lose the weight in a healthy way… She needs an hour of cardiovascular exercise six days a week. Crunches are done every day. That’s the core exercise.”  He’s also planning to throw in 15-20 minutes of strength training on three to four days a week.

My only question is about whether she’s doing this for the right reasons.  Only time will tell…

[...] Gayle went on to show amazement that the media had caught wind of the event since it was supposed to be "top, top secret" and describes the setting as a “buffet dinner.”  That’s not exactly the best thing for Oprah who is said to be trying hard to lose weight in time for the inauguration!
