Wanda Sykes on Ellen DeGeneres Show – Video
October 31, 2008 by Jeanne
Comedien, Wanda Sykes was on the Halloween special of the Ellen DeGeneres Show today to promote the new season of her show, The New Adventures of Old Christine. Her Halloween costume was hilarious! Ellen’s was pretty funny – she dressed up in quarters, pennies and dimes to support a familiar concept in political discussion this year. She dressed up as “change”! You gotta give it to Ellen, she’s so creative and she gets her point across.

Keeping Halloween a Healthy Celebration
October 31, 2008 by Jeanne
I really enjoy holidays but I have to admit that Halloween always intimidates me. You have to get costumes, decorations, get the kids ready to trick-or-treat and then, of course, there is all of that candy! I always make a deal with myself before Halloween and then I end up eating way more candy than I would want to. The expert showed a bag of candy that looked similar to the ones my kids bring home and she pointed out that, over a week, your child (or you) will consume something like 20,000 calories. Can you believe that?!

Kellie Pickler on Bonnie Hunt Show – Video
American Idol star, Kellie Pickler, was on the Bonnie Hunt Show today where she performed her song “Don’t You Know You’re Beautiful” and sat down and talked to Bonnie. She told a funny story about a friend who came out to visit her but ended up jumping out of Kellie’s moving car just minutes after being picked up from the airport. The problem? She saw a snake in the car. Listen to Kellie tell the story:
Watch Kellie perform! I wasn’t a huge fan of this particular performance of “Don’t You Know You’re Beautiful” but I do like the song.

Is Autism Related to Vaccinations?
October 30, 2008 by Jeanne
This morning on the Today show, they talked about the connection (or lack thereof) between vaccinations and autism. Dr. Paul Offit has disputed and denied that there is a link and has been threatened (including death threats!) and challenged by parents who disagree with him. Some people feel that, his relationship with drug manufacturer, Merck, combined with the fact that he has developed a vaccine, affects his objectivity on the subject.
The reality is that autism affects as many as 1:150 children (that is huge!) and every 20 minutes a child is diagnosed with the disorder. My fellow b5media blogger, Dr. Kristina Chew (Autism Vox), agrees with Dr. Offit. She says that her son was born with autism and does not believe a vaccination is to blame.
What do you believe? Are childhood vaccinations responsible for autism?
What do Celebrities Eat for Breakfast?
October 30, 2008 by Jeanne
There was a really quick segment where Danny Bonaduce, Naomi Judd and Wilmer Valderrama disclosed what they eat for breakfast. Danny said he eats Muesli (even though he couldn’t quite pronounce it), Naomi said she had a chili dog with onions and mustard at the airport and Wilmer said a banana and orange juice.
Some other stars revealed their morning choices:
- Eve – blueberries, stawberries, raspberries
- Bob Saget – an orange and water
- Elizabeth Hurley – two poached eggs and an English muffin
- Hulk Hogan – oatmeal, egg whites, tomato and cheese
Wow! What a wide range of tastes! What do you eat for breakfast? Did any of these surprise you?
Tips to Keep Your Kids Safe on Halloween
October 30, 2008 by Jeanne
Halloween can be a fun tradition for families but something that parents are often concerned with is keeping their kids safe. There are all kinds of things associated with the holiday that could be potentially dangerous/unhealthy – kids walking alone along darkened streets where everyone is wearing a costume, lots of candy (which has been given to them by strangers), candles in jack-o-laterns and more.
On the Today show, an expert talked about steps you can take to make your child’s night of fun a little safer. Watch the segment here:

Chris Rock Stops by the Ellen Show
October 29, 2008 by Jeanne
Chris Rock came out onto the set of the Ellen show and tried to give her an open-mouth kiss and they joked about that and marriage – he asked is she’s beating her new wife, Portia, yet and advised her to “keep her pimp hand strong.” They showed a picture of his two daughters, whom he said were dressing up as a cheerleader and a mermaid for Halloween this Friday. He said he was going to be “white” while he took them trick-or-treating.
Ellen asked him about the election and he gave some funny reasons for why he thinks Barack Obama is going to win. He also talked about being close friends with Bernie Mac, who passed away this past August, and how he misses him so much.
Police Mistakenly Kill Newlywed on Lawn
October 29, 2008 by Jeanne
In an awful tragedy, police killed a 20-year-old newlywed man on his front lawn because they thought he was a suspect. They had been chasing a group of teenagers in Anaheim when the victim came out of his house and was mistaken for one of the teens, perceived as a threat and shot to death by a veteran officer. His young widow is expecting a baby. How sad. Here’s the story from CNN morning news:
