Tyra Show Talks About "Girl Fights"

Today, Tyra Banks talked about girl fights on her daytime talk show.  As the mother of a 15-year-old girl, I was completely horrified by what I saw and heard on the show.

One girl, Alexis, told Tyra that taping her own fights makes her actually fight less.  WHAT!?  They showed footage of her beating one girl up and I was stunned when she said that the other girl was her sister.  I noticed she seemed kind of proud of herself and Tyra called her on it (thank goodness).  Alexis said that she doesn’t it put it on the internet out of respect for her sister, although she did consider it once but her sister convinced her not to.

Alexis’ mother revealed that her daughter’s favorite show is the Bad Girls Club.  How could she be allowed to watch that stuff?  I’d rather turn my cable service off than feed into her anger issues (I don’t blame the show for Alexis’ behavior but it doesn’t help).

When it came time to explain herself, Alexis said that she acts out because she’s the middle child and doesn’t get enough attention.  Good Lord… I am sure some of this is true but I hate when people (no matter what age) go with the standard answer.  It feels like a cop out.  I didn’t get all that much attention in my family because I had completely different interests and looked different too but I didn’t go beating people up.

“GirlFights” THIS IS SUCH A STRONG TOPPIC. As little girl that grow up in Paterson N,J,. I have seen my share of girlfights. Also been in a couple myself. I believe one the biggest reason is to be bad and cool in front of your friends.
