VP Nominee Sarah Palin’s Teen Daughter is Pregnant
The Today show discussed the breaking news that Alaskan Governor Sarah Palin’s 17-year-old daughter, Bristol Palin, is pregnant. Sarah Palin was announced last Friday as Senator John McCain’s choice for vice president (should he win the election in November). Initially, I thought that Palin was a brilliant choice from a strictly strategic position but the more that I learn about her, makes me doubt the appropriateness of his decision.
I was a teen mom so I’m not judging her daughter at all but I do think that, as the mother of five children, including a newborn son who has Down’s Syndrome and now a pregnant teenaged daughter, her place should be with her family. If she were elected as vice president, she really would not have much time with them and, to be honest, with all that on her plate I’m not sure she’s the right pick to replace McCain if something were to happen to him during his presidency (should he be elected).
Considering the fact that he only met her once, I really wonder if he chose her based on her merits or on the fact that he simply wanted a woman as his running mate in an effort to appeal to Hillary Clinton supporters. Only time will tell, I guess, but the Today show seemed to make an effort to look at the situation as fairly as possible.
