Regis and Kelly Tips: See NYC on a Budget!

imageIt’s summertime and, if you are like me, you appreciate advice for saving money if you are on vacation.

Yesterday morning, Regis and Kelly provided tips for enjoying New York City on a budget.  I haven’t been to the Big Apple in years but I’ve been thinking a lot about it recently.  If I go, at least I will know how to save a few bucks!  Here are some of the great tips:

  • Get to NYC from Newark or JFK airports on the Airtrain for only $7-15.
  • The Metro Card can save money on taxi cab fares!
  • Hopstop.com gives you step-by-step subway or taxi directions from anywhere in the city!
  • Mets tickets are $5 for the upper sections which usually include t-shirt giveaways.  Yankee tickets go for $14.
  • Take a ferry to the Rockaways where you can fish for free!
  • Visiting the MoMa Museum is free on Fridays.  Wow!
  • The Carousel in Central Park is only $2 and open every day from 10am to 6pm.

These are great bargains.  Imagine – you could see the Mets, visit the museum and take a ride on the carousel for just $7!
