I am a 51 yr old female suffering with breast cancer that has gone into my bones. I take oral chemo of 3000mg (Xeloda) for 2 wks then off for 1. I also get intravenous Zometa treatments every six weeks. I am also now filling up with fluid, and have to go in to be drained every 2 wks. They get anywhere from 4-8 liters of fluid off me, and then injest a shot of chemo into the tube. OUCH. We have lost our home because of medical bills. I have a 14 yr. old son. I have been on medical leave for 12 wks., but now have to try to go back to work. My co-pays for my one medication alone is 267.00 per month, and i am just starting to receive all the other medical bills for my co-pays and so far they total over 1500.00. I made a whole 11000.00 last year. I am not asking for hand-outs, however I really do wish that you at GMA would put some peoples stories on TV so that people would realize how bad our medical insurance is in the US. I will make less money than my medical co-pays are, however if i do not have the insurance then my one medicine alone would be 1500.00 per month. Is there anyone out there that knows of some place that can help people like us with Medical bills. I should also say that my husband is not working and has not worked because he has been a carpenter for over 40 yrs and cannot find work because of the housing situation. If there is anyone out there that has any information pls. e-mail me. Robin, to you I say you go girl, and please be very vigilante about taking care of yourself. Please feel free to use this e-mail to get the message out there about how we need something done in the U S to take care of our health needs.

FROM CANCER TO HOMELESSNESS, IT’S NO LONGER ABOUT THE CURE!

We are a newly founded non-profit for women with breast cancer in the Dallas Tx area, created to help women financially from diagnosis to recovery. Most organizations that recognize or stand for breast cancer, are geared towards prevention and research, but no one really considers the care ones needs financially.

Breast Cancer knows no race, creed, color, background, or history. It doesn’t give a damn how much money you have in your bank account, where you live, where you’ve been or where you’re trying to get to. We all know, that we as Americans waste so much money daily on needless things such as lunches for $10 bucks, coffee and lattes for $3 dollars, clothes we know that we all have an abundance of, nail and hair appointments, expensive gifts, dinners, cars and the like. We’ve all been down and needed help to keep the lights on, or money to house our families. We may not have let the world or most of our family members in on our situation, but we’ve all been there. If you haven’t, keep living!

Small Pearls of Hope wants to help these women that are in dire need, and no one knows who this will affect next. Our mothers, your grandmothers, aunts, sisters, and parents, taught us to give up something every now and again for someone else. Let this be the something and the someone else.

In the 70’s we were told a cure was on the horizon, 30 years later, how far have we come? The cure is great, prevention is better, but what about the day to day battle with cancer and finances? The cure means nothing if homelessness is 2 steps away.

Small Pearls of Hope just wants to make the public aware, and get hope for those no longer living from paycheck to paycheck, but from one day to the next .Every one knows someone with cancer or has had cancer. Please help today, no matter how big or small, it all adds up to giving mom, sister, friend, wife or aunt a fighting chance.

It is april 22/08 and I love your sassy dark curls.
you look like a breath of fresh air…..I hope you start a trend in short hair, you look like america’s top model!!
It just proves that to be beautiful you do not need to have long tresses.

Hey Robin… my sister just went throught the same thing… I pray for you.. I know it is a lot harder that you protray it to be.. but then… that is what makes you the American Idol… you are my hero… and GOD BLESS… we love you… and if prayers could cure… you are done… you are so loved… not just by me… but by everyone I know and beyond… we are all there for you… you are such an inspiration to us all… There are very few women like you… and you found your spot… American TV… doing what your heart feels.. that is what we feel… and that is what counts… God is making a special place for you… a special place for a VERY special person… God Bless… and God Speed… We love you…
