How Oprah is Making Her School Safer

After the allegations of abuse at Oprah Winfrey’s School in South Africa, she made a few changes – barbed wire has been installed around the school and all 152 students have been given their own cell phones, programmed with Oprah’s personal number.

Well, first of all, why wasn’t there barbed wire around the school in the first place? I know it’s not very attractive but this is South Africa, a country known for it’s high rate of sexual assault. Second, the problems began inside of the school so keeping people out wasn’t really the issue.

I applaud her effort and I think it’s downright tragic that it happened in the first place but I don’t know if this is enough. The school needs heavy-duty security, in my opinion.
