Hillary Clinton Cashes in on 60th Birthday!
October 25, 2007 by Jeanne

Presidential candidate, Senator Hillary Clinton will be celebrating her 60th birthday tonight in style. What’s a woman like Hillary to do for such an event? Make money, of course!!! Check out this party information from Good Morning America’s “Turning Points”:
“It’s hard to avoid a certain birthday when everyone knows about it,” she said at one recent public appearance.
Thursday night, Billy Crystal will introduce British rocker Elvis Costello and The Wallflowers to a sold-out crowd at New York’s famed Beacon Theater, a real political party.
Call it cashing in on being a baby boomer — tonight, the New York senator will raise more than $1 million for her Democratic presidential campaign.
Movie director Rob Reiner has brought in half a million dollars alone. It’s a donation that came complete with his own rendition of “Happy Birthday Mrs. President.”
When her husband, Bill Clinton, ran for president in 1992 he was just 45. At 60, Hillary is about the average age for presidential wannabes and right there with millions of boomers.
Sixty, she said the other day, is the new 40.
Bill will be asking people to sign a birthday card and maybe drop a little change too, inquiring, “what’s your birthday wish for Hillary?”
And on the eve of this birthday, Hillary will not only stand with him on stage, but she will trumpet the strength of their marriage.
“I think everything Hillary Clinton says is quite calculated … bring up the idea of romance in connection with her husband and look happy and assured about it — goes a long way to reducing some of the suspicions people still hold about ‘will we go back into the old soap opera,’” said Gail Sheehy, author of “Hillary’s Choice.”
In a recent interview with Essence magazine, Hillary said she never doubted her decision to stay in the marriage. She even said that Bill is romantic — buying her impromptu gifts like a wooden giraffe from a shop in Africa this summer.
“In the same way you have to talk about religion when you run, you have to talk about having a wonderful marriage when you aren’t even speaking to each other. Is it real? I don’t know,” said Washington Post reporter Sally Quinn. “But the fact is, it works. And I am not just talking about the Clintons either — it works for every couple that runs for office or politics.”
A new Los Angeles Times-Bloomberg survey found that only 16 percent of registered voters think she made the wrong choice staying married.
No word on what Bill is giving Hillary for her birthday but he recently gave her a Chanel watch. Apparently she was having dental surgery and he thought it looked like teeth.

Today’s newspaper is reporting that at Hillary Clinton’s 60th birthday bash in New York, well-wishers raised a staggering 1.5 million in cash for her bid for the Presidency.
The journalist, Glenn Thrush, wrote,
“The Clintons have always blurred the line between personal, political, and financial, and Thursday night’s party at Manhattan’s Beacon Theatre, with 3000 paying guests, was perhaps the crowning example.”
Well, if you had any doubts, I can attest to that, from a behind-the-scenes perspective.
You see, last week I got this great, lightbulb of-an-idea.
A little world-weary of scouring the Internet for the latest tidbits on Hillary’s comings and goings – the width and breadth of her cleavage in any particular week, that sort-of-titillating thing – it dawned on me to surreptitiously check her website on occasion.
When I got to the vanity site, a stroke of luck befell me!
Yes, I was invited to sign on for her newsletter.
I could barely contain my excitement.
Imagine that, now Hillary would be firing off e-mail communications to me, unknowingly updating me on her deepest thoughts, travel plans, and all-manner of inside scoop on future events, in the 2008 Presidential Race.
So, I keyed in my e-mail address, threw my feet up on the coffee table, and sat back!
Well, looks like my plan backfired.
A few days later, I got an e-mail from Mr. Bill Clinton – himself! – inviting me to click on a link and sign a birthday card for Hill’s 60th!
Ah, shucks!
I’m pretty sentimental when it comes to B-days!
As far as I’m concerned, every celebrant should have cake, best buds in tow to toast with champagne splits – and most importantly – there has to be a ceremonious, satisfying romp in the hay…to confirm, at least in some small fashion, that the individual is still in the game…
So, I enthusiastically mused, “May your innermost wish be fulfilled”…
Then, just after I hit the send button, I recoiled in shock!
What had I done?
I am a pretty superstitious guy, after all; surely, if you blow out all the candles, you’ll get the wish?
What do you suppose Hillary’s would be – to retire and pen children’s books?
Something tells me it is much more ominous and far-reaching than that!
Especially, in view of the fact that once the wish was sent, a pop-up box pandered for a donation!
Well, I won’t worry – not yet, anyway.
I mean, do you think Hillary Clinton had wind enough last night to blow out 60 candles – raging away ferociously on a tiered cake?
Naw, I’m dreaming…
