My husband & I have a large farm and we have people drop off hurt and sick dogs because they know we will get them medical help and keep them - because we love animals. I think Mutts & Moms should be investigated. It is quite clear that that business is not concerned with the welfare of the dog! They should be ashamed of themself!

It's still ticking me off! I can't believe some of their policies. Is there anything wrong with reviewing the rules to see if they are actually worth keeping?

Sandy - I agree about Ellen. She seems so genuine and caring and it is sad to see her this way.

Donna - you're right. The lady who runs this organization is obviously power-tripping and enjoying her new-found fame. The policy about children under 14 is absolutely crazy.

This is a travesty.

I heard about the media comment from the Mutts&Moms group this morning. She is also saying that their agency NEVER places ANY animals in homes with children under 14 years old!!! Now, some animals are not good with toddlers who might accidentally or on purpose hurt the dogs, but children over 6 should be OK unless the dog itself is dangerous or sickly. If this dog is neither, there should be no issue. I can't imagine that Ellen bullied anyone. She may have been overzealous in trying to correct the situation after it happened for the sake of the children involved, but that is not bullying - it is standing up for the dog and the child. Also, if I spent $3000 training an animal, I would say that I should ahve the right to decide where my investment went!! If the M&M group wants to reimburse her for these training charges (they should not have placed this dog with a cat home in the first place), then they might have some ground to stand on, but I do not see that happening. If Ellen had not been honest with them, they would not have known that the dog was not at her home anymore, and where to go see it, now would they? Someone should make a WHOPPING donation to these M&M people, get this dog back to the child, and just let this all pass from the front page. People are dying all over the world, and this little tyrant wants her 15 minutes of fame? Shame on her!!

I am really upset that an organization that is suppose to help find a decent home for dogs is using this as an effort to promote their name. If this is what they are about I would not use them to adopt an animal. Ellen is one of the upfront most caring people that I have seen in a long time. You cannot fake the kind of caring that she shows.I feel they should reconsider their stance and return Iggy to the Hairdresser and her children.

Gayle,

I tried to find an email address on Mutts and Moms but it's been disabled. This story really hurt me and I cannot believe a rescue center can be so heartless. They could have just done a check on that family to see if they were suitable to keep Iggy. They didn't even give them a chance. This is disgusting! Poor Ellen!

Ellen did nothing wrong and bless her heart she is a beautiful example of the type of people I would go to bat for anyday or time. I have been active with the SPCA ground rules since I was just 10 years old and these do gooders never cease to amaze me---To Mutts for Moms Mark Twain said "Heaven goes by favor. If it went by merit you would stay out and your dogs would go in." HOW STUPID CAN U BE. God bless Ellen!!!!!
