Kelly Ripa to Appear on QVC

Kelly Ripa will be making an appearance on Super Saturday, a special two-hour QVC presentation that’s being televised for the first time in its 10-year history.
The home shopping network is offering deep discounts on brand-name merchandise between 1 to 3 p.m. to raise money for the Ovarian Cancer Research Fund.
This one-day summer event had been an exclusively private function for celebrities and the Hamptons’ elite, who all pay $600 for admission. But for the first time, the charity sale will be open to QVC’s audience of 90 million households, said Denise Kovalevich, a QVC spokeswoman.
The program will be broadcast live in the Hamptons, a top summer destination for the rich and famous, and feature dozens of beauty products, accessories, clothing and jewelry from big names that include Calvin Klein, LeSportsac, C.O. Bigelow, Fortunoff, Bath & Body Works, philosophy and Swarovksi.
More than 50 products will be sold at half the suggested retail price, with all proceeds benefiting the Ovarian Cancer Research Fund.
QVC was impressed with the cause and wanted to raise awareness about ovarian cancer so more women are diagnosed earlier, Kovalevich said.
According to the American Cancer Society, an estimated 20,000 women in the United States will develop ovarian cancer this year.
New evidence contradicts what doctors had long believed: that ovarian cancer rarely produced any signs or symptoms in the early stages. Increased awareness of them could lead to earlier detection. Abdominal cramping, frequent urge to urinate and unusual bleeding are among early warning signs.
Ripa, 36, who grew up in Berlin Borough and graduated from Eastern Regional High School, has been co-host of the popular daytime talk show, “Live with Regis and Kelly” alongside Regis Philbin since replacing Kathy Lee Gifford six years ago.
She has been affiliated with Super Saturday as a host for a number of years.
