The cast of The Chronicles of Narnia: Prince Caspianwere on the Rachael Ray show yesterday and Rach was pretty excited. She said that she was an avid reader as a child but that the Narnia books were the first to keep her up at night reading with a flashlight under the covers. I loved the books myself but I wasn’t thrilled by the first Narnia film so I’m probably not going to see it in the theater.
Ben Barnes, who portrays Prince Caspian, said that he was really welcomed by the cast and didn’t have to worry about being the “new guy.” The trio (Ben and co-stars Anna Popplewell and William Moseley) were chatty and animated but the audience wasn’t very receptive, unfortunately. They joked around and tried to engage them but it was uncomfortably quiet at times.
Ellen Degeneres did a segment on her daytime talk show yesterday about embarrassing prom pictures. It was pretty hilarious. So many things look good at the time but, when we look back, look so incredibly horrible. Of course, these pictures were from the 80s and the hair and clothing was mostly atrocious.
That second picture was submitted by a woman who has not spoken to her date since 1984 and is worried he might get mad about it being shown on television. Ellen must have said his name four or five times just to rub it in. Too funny!
Candace Cameron was on the Today show yesterday and she looked incredible! It barely looks like she’s changed at all! Do you remember her from Full House? That show launched the careers of Bob Saget, John Stamos and, of course, The Olsen Twins.
She was on the show to discuss her new movie The Wager which co-stars Randy Travis. She said that she loved the script for this movie because it is a Christian film and, despite the risqué clips, it’s actually a good choice for a family film. She has three children of her own now (with husband, retired NHL hockey player, Valeri Bure) and says that it is very important to her to make movies that they can watch.
She also spoke about what it was like to grow up as a child actor along with her famous brother, Kirk Cameron, who was a star of another hit sitcom, Growing Pains. She loved her experience and says that one of her daughters has gotten into modelling.
Actor, Jack Black, totally spilled the beans about the fact that Angelina Jolie is truly expecting twins. He said “you’re going to have as many as Brady Bunch when you have these.” Ouch. Angie just giggled and agreed that it has been confirmed (by Jack!) that she is pregnant with twins. Hilarious! They were on to promote their new movie Kung Fu Panda.
Whitney Thompson, the winner of this season’s America’s Next Top Model, was on Live with Regis and Kelly this morning. I actually watched the finale last night and, well… um, I didn’t want her to win. I love that she’s full-figured but I didn’t like her personality, I hated her pictures and I thought she came off as phony.
Here’s her interview from this morning:
Again, this morning, she came off as really phony (to me!) but it was a decent appearance. She did have more intelligent things to say than I expected and I am glad that, as a size 8-10, she spoke out about that not being “fat.”
On the Tyra show this morning, she talked about what it means to be homosexual in ghetto neighborhoods. One of her guests, Richard, talked about a gay bashing incident that he lived through just recently. Tyra spoke to his mother, Jeanette, about how she feels every time he lives the house. They are from Spanish Harlem and she worries about everything, including how he dresses. She asks him not to wear bright colors or tight clothing because she feels it makes him a target.
It’s really sad to me that this still is happening in the world. You don’t have to agree with that people choose to do with their lives (so long as they aren’t breaking the law, of course) but there’s no need to get involved and hurt others. I just don’t understand it.
European singer, Robyn, performed “Cobra Style” on The View this morning. I’m not sure what that was all about. Okay, her band had on bear heads (I don’t even know how they were able to play to be honest) and the song was pretty terrible, as was her dancing. I like Robyn, I really loved her album “Robyn is Here” from several years ago but this is not a great comeback effort. Oh well, watch it for yourself:
The Bachelor, Matt Grant, and his fiancée Shane were on Ellen this morning where Shayne gave Ellen a bit of a hard time since the talk show host publicly said that Matt might be more interested in one of the other contestants, Chelsea. It was actually pretty funny. He seems extremely charming but I’m not sure about Shayne (or her dress - did you see how short that outfit was?!?!?). She’s definitely attractive but slightly obnoxious. Matt barely got to talk at all.
Shayne also talked about the fact that they are going to have two children and then raise one in the U.K. and one in Los Angeles. Ellen asked if Shayne had discussed this with Matt or if she was just announcing it (she definitely comes off as making all the decisions so I don’t blame Ellen!). The conversation got even stranger when they talked about the possibility of their being on future reality television shows (he mentioned doing one about his funeral!). Watch the interview here:
